You know this ready brake cable system and surge brake setup doesn't really appeal to me. Does anyone have one. I guess it's a less expensive setup. What about these wireless actuated boxes that sit on your floor? I assume like anything else they are not created equal?

I used the SMI Stay N Play . It worked flawlessly.

Same here. Easy install. Click it on, click it off. Drama free unit.

FYI and fun fact - I towed the Jeep behind my suburban to calibrate the braking force. This way I could see the front of the jeep dip when the system activated. The recommended default setting was way too aggressive in our scenario.

Over 50,000 miles with Ready Brake on two RV's and two toads. Nearly flawless operation. Highly recommend it.

You might also check out the RIV2 system. Very light, easy to set up and works great. It has wireless monitoring and their customer service is top notch. I've used one for 10k miles with no problems other than a communication error that the factory resolved.

I will look into all these. I have one question about capacity, it the equipment is rated at 5000# and I'm sure there is a safety factor built into that rating would it accelerate fatigue if you were using up to 80% of its rating. 6500# is better but if a person can buy a nice used 5000# Blue Ox or a Road Master and maybe plan on towing up to 4000# would you do it?

This isn't a question about braking systems I'm guessing..... This refers to tow bar setups ?

My own personal opinion is I prefer to be over rated on the towing capacity. I tow a 3800 pound Jeep, but I bought the 6500# rated Blue Ox tow bar. I don't want to cut things too close on tow rating. There isn't that much difference in price.

There have been videos of the Ready Brake in action posted here but I do not have a link to them.

Braking systems come in flavors and each has advantages and disadvantages.

Ready break.. Good if you tow often but if you live in the great salted north and park the motor home for the winter you may need to replace the cable on the car come spring, EVERY spring.

Air/Hydraulic come in both pedal pusher and one unique (M&G) system,. IF your motor home has Air brakes and the M&G fits your car I highly recommend it.. Totaly invisible to a driver, Once installed it's installed, Nothing to muss with fast hook up (one air hose)

Many systems that are installed, Some use compressed air (Locally compressed) some pure electrical power, Which PULL the pedal down,, Also good, not as good as teh M&G but good. these too are nearly invisible to a driver of the car, fast hookup or in the case of invisible brake NO hookup (Just the tow light lead) Proper installation is important.

Pedal Pushers, be they air or other. Have the poroblem of you have to PROPERLY hook them up or install them every tow, Now with one that uses a bracket under the driver's seat and air from the motor home.. Not bad.
But the box in the driver's seat you need to install every tow and remove to drive.. Too much temptation to "oh forget it for this short tow" and also EVERY install is a chance to screw it up like the dealer did my installed system (Cost me a brake job, Rotors and all, OUCH).

US Gear Unified Brake Decelratore (The system the dealer messed up on me) gives you more control over the towed brakes than ANY OTHER system out there, Same control a professional driver has over his trailer if not more (Adjustable gain is not normally part of professional systems) I liked it, worked well, once PROPERLY installed (The mess up was some trim they removed to install the system, they put the trim back wrong and snagged the pedal.. Trim was not needed so I junked it and fixed the install).

You didn't say what type coach but it looks like from the picture it's a diesel pusher with air brakes. I think that M&G is probably one of the best and simplest systems out there and at a reasonable cost and a simple installation plug air line and go only problem they don't make them for all toads, I also like Roadmaster Brakemaster system and have used both systems, both works as advertised.

Been using the RoadMaster BrakeMaster system for years. Works as advertised (just remember to release the parking brake!) and is simple to install.

No it's a 37' Dolphin W-24 Just looking at what might appeal to me. RV show this weekend in home town, but probably won't make it because we are bring our unit home this weekend. Don't know how many of these systems would be on display at the show anyway?
