Towed vehicle supplemental braking.

I have a 2009 Damon Astoria DP and a 2015 Jeep Wrangler sport 4x4 towed vehicle. I'm thinking of having an M&G Engineering supplementary braking system installed. Has anyone got anything good/bad to say about this system. I will have installation done at M&G factory.

I have one on my Tahoe and had one on a Jeep Liberty. Wouldn't use anything else. Doesn't require any electrical. No dead batteries.

I think it is one of the best and a simple install or as on my F150, just plug in and go and when you put the brakes on it does not actavated the toad brake lights that can cover up the turn signal on the toad.

I've had M&G on two motorhomes (one gas, one diesel). I just installed it on my new toad, and they gave a discount to remove the old unit. The unit works well, although I did have to go back in last week to have them replace the pressure sensor that lights up the dash light. This is to show when air is present for the toad. Turns out the brakes were working fine, but the gauge was giving a false signal.

They do make a good system, however look at SMI
Air Force One and Stay in Play Duo also.
Both are excellent.

I just had it installed in my 2016 JKU. It should be just the same as the 2015. They did have to move the antilock controller and cut away the plastic barrier between the antilock controller and the computer. The antilock controller was moved closer to the computer to make room for everything. It was a little more invasive than I liked on my new Wrangler. I hope it doesn't mess with the Jeep warranty.

Functionally, it's great. I think. It's hard to tell how much braking is taking place on the Jeep. I don't feel it pushing on me when I stop, I don't feel it pulling after releasing the brakes but I'll have to say I didn't feel it pushing on some test tows with the air line unhooked.

Anyway, I'm legal, It's easy to hook up and I don't feel the Jeep when stopping so what more could I ask for?

If you use diodes or the bulb kit for the coach lights in the toad tail lights and use a toad braking system that mashes the toad brakes it would actavated the toad brakes lights and cover up the signal light from the coach if a brake light relay or switch is not installed. The M&G system does not actavated the brake lights when braking with the coach as it only push on the brake master cylinder and the foot peddle part does not move.

I installed a pressure switch in the air line from the coach in the toad side of the air line and ran a 12v + to a LED strip across the top of the front tag bracket with the ground wire routed through the pressure switch to turn the LED lights on when I mash the coach brakes, it shows up in the rear view camera. Another way without running a wire to the front of the coach.

Are there any techniques anyone uses to determine how much braking is going on in the toad? Indicator lights are only helpful to tell if anything is going on but not how much.

I can't answer your question but when I installed the M&G system I got the temp of the brake rotors with a temp gun and made a couple mile run without touching the brakes and got the temp again to make sure the adjustment was ok.
