Thanks for the reply.
Concerning your coach:
1. What size is your engine?
2. Is it gas or a DP
3. Got any idea what your GCVW is?
Sorry to be such a pain,but I don't want to buy a car I can't tow.
Thanks again,

Agree... sort of. We tow our '09 Wrangler XL (the 4-door version) happily too, but the OP said they want to stay in the 3000-4000# range. My very basic Wrangler 4 door weighs in at about #4200 lbs. Still an excellent toad, as long as your RV can pull it!

Thanks for the reply.
I've got the same specs except that mine is 36 feet and I believe that the GCWR is 32,000#. So I guess that I'm OK. May have to lighten the weight I'm carrying though.

We just bought a 2015 Chevy Malibu that we're setting up for towing. About 3400 pounds.

2016 Honda HR-V LX with 6 speed manual transmission, MSRP $ 19,995
Weight slightly under 3,000 pounds. 4 cylinder engine. 4 doors plus rear hatch. Carries 5 adults. Very flexible for hauling stuff rear seats fold many different ways.
Honda officially supports flat towing it with transmission in neutral and key in position 1.
I use with a Blue Ox Baseplate, Towbar, 8 to 6 cable, and Patriot Brake Buddy.
Flat tows with key in position 1, with the resulting small drain on battery mitigated with a battery charge line from the motor coach to the toad that is available to the toad via the 8 to 6 cable. I had to provide 12 volt motor coach power to the Brake Buddy anyway, by doing the charge line I save pulling fuses and I can just plug the Brake Buddy right into the 12 volt accessory connector in the HR-V.

I am now looking for a new or different toad. I bought a 2016 WRX with push button start and Subaru said i can not tow it nor do they recommend a WRX even with out the push button start. Look at a 2016 Malibu $22400 or a 2014 CRV with 20k miles for $23300. More than a new Malibu?? Don't want a Jeep for everyday back and forth to work. So why not a used Malibu???? A lot cheaper than the CR V. Who pulls a Malibu?

IMHO, the reason for the cost difference is due to the quality, durability and resale. Keep the Malibu for two years, then see how much it is worth compared to the CR-V... I bet the CR-V will have a better resale value in two years (at four years old) than the Malibu will have when it is two years old. If both were towed for another four years, I bet you would keep the 8 year old CR-V, over the six year old Malibu.... After putting out the expense for a base plate, you want something that you can tow for as long as possible... Just my 2 cents worth...

The older CR-V's are in high demand since the newer ones (2015/2016) can't be towed four down.
