Towing 2010 Cadillac SRX
We've towed this thing across 1/2 of the U S and never seen another being towed until 4 days ago in Massachusetts. I asked him if he was tired of crawling into the floorboard and pulling the BCM1, BCM2, and BCM3 fuses. He said he didn't do that (come to find out he was retired GM Exec.), then he showed me a cool tip. Use a plastic table knife the pry up the side of the shifter boot. Then with the car in park, and the engine off, you use a pencil to depress the shifter lock (little hole in upper right of shifter), then move the shifter to the neutral position. Since the engine is off, nothing is on in the car, and the car is now in neutral. This car does not have a steering wheel lock on it either. Towed it twice using this procedure, and it's worked great. Sure beats being on you hands and knees looking for those 3 little fuses.
By the way, I looked up the 2011 owners manual online and it showed this same procedure. So since there were no changes in the model years I feel safe in doing this.
Happy towing,
Kerry
