Towing 2012 Honda Odyssey

I'm trying to find out what type of tow dolly people use to tow their Odyssey. I'm seeing some people are towing 4 wheels on the ground but to be honest I don't feel comfortable doing that.

I'm seeing some RV using the Acme EZE-Tow Dolly but need to get feed back before paying $1500 for this dolly. I'm worried about the ramps hitting the bottom of my Odyssey.

We did tow our '05 Ody on a Demco KK-460 but I'm not sure it's wide enough for the '12's as we're right at the width limit with ours and I think the '12's are wider track. In fact both front tires ride on the outer edges of the pan. Never damaged the tire but I did worry about it.
Now we went back to four down towing it, but kept the dolly as our next vehicle might not be towable.

And congrats for the smart decision to dolly tow your Odyssey. It will be safe, up-high away from rock strikes and free of the extra miles on the lower driveline that comes from flat-towing.

The idler and electric brake models of the EZE-Tow can accept cars up to 83" wide and the surge brake model up to 80" wide.

The new style metal ramp are very long to load even the lowest vehicles with no issue or tire spin on the ramps.
Acme "EZE-TOW" Tow Dolly - Car Tow Dolly

Please be aware that the Odyssey's steering MUST be able to pivot (steering unlocked) to allow the dolly to make turns, just like flat towing.

We are not affiliated...just have over15,000 miles on our EZE-Tow and have learned that it is like a fine hammer...simple and strong.

Best luck

Chris and Laura,

I have not heard of anyone damaging their car on a EZE-Tow dolly.
One owner incorrectly operated their car/EZE-Tow dolly set with the car's suspension chained tightly to the dolly like you would for a pivot pan dolly...the dolly frame cracked, but the car was undamaged.

The American Dolly is a pivot frame style (like U-Haul uses). I have heard about cars being damaged by this style dolly (not specifically American) when the dolly fender impacted the car's door in a tight turn and/or jack knife situation (a backing error or panic stop...broke the metal stop designed to prevent this).

Hope that helps.
Best luck
