I bought a 2013 CRV for a trip that we're currently on (7000 mile coast to coast). Being a gadget guy and always wanting to make something better, I added the larger battery. Using the Odyssey battery tray parts was a snap and I got a new Interstate battery at Costco for $85.00. Since we didn't have time to take the Honda on any long trips, I wanted to make sure we didn't have any issues. I also bought the fuse switch from Roadmaster, but was disappointed. Once I received the part, I realized it was a $6.00 switch and a $2.00 fuse holder, which they charge about $50.00 for. It was my fault for not looking at it more closely, but I would recommend building your own.

Lastly, I went to Honda and had a non chipped ignition key cut. I use it while towing. It will operate the ignition and turn on all the accessories, such as the shift position indicator, but it won't start the car.

We just completed about 4000 miles of the trip and the Honda has performed flawlessly. I let it idle while hooking it up and then put it in neutral and go. No battery issues and I like the idea of having a full size battery that I don't have to worry about.

Don't forget.....if your towing the CRV, Honda recommends that you shorten the transmission service interval to every 30K miles.

Don, Honda has a shift sequence that you're supposed to go through before towing!
