Towing 2013 Mazda Miata 4 wheels down

Does anyone have any experience towing a Mazda rx5 Miata 4 wheels down? Factory says no, but give no reasons why, seems to be a legal thing so they can't be sued if someone tows it in gear or something.

Thanks for input.

You don't mention the transmission you have.

I started towing my 2008 6 speed last year. I have covered 5000 miles towing without any issues. Not sure about the 5 speed, automatic would be a no.

Healeyman has towed his 2009 6 speed over 13,000 miles.

I also towed my 2000 5-speed over 35,000 miles.

I responded to an inquiring Email from them with some defining questions,
but have yet to hear back.
