Towing 2014 Ford Focus Titanium

Just got my 2014 Ford Focus Titanium back from the installer. He put in a US Gear Unified Tow Brake and a shut off switch for the negative battery cable so I don't have to remove the cable each time I want to tow it. The job was very professional and the only thing showing under the hood is a well placed and convenient on/off switch. I wish I could figure out how to put the pictures on the site but I just cannot seem to do it. If anyone wants pictures just send me an email and I will be glad to send them to you. Contact me at sbranen@cox.net. They will be completing the project tomorrow when they get my motorhome for the finale hookup. Like I said, if it wasn't for the professional looking switch located just left of the battery box, you would never know they did any work under the hood.

My 2014 Ford Focus no longer has the negative battery connection removed and connected to a shut off switch. The negative battery cable was placed back on the negative battery post. The positive cable was removed and hooked up to the on/off switch. The other end of the cable was secured back on the positive battery terminal. The switch allows me to cut off all power to the car's electrical system by using the on/off switch. The US Gear Braking System still gets power from the car battery which is also receiving a constant charge from the Motorhome while under tow. Electrical power is now effectively isolated from the chassis and all electrical components. US Gear recommended this change as an effective way to keep power from reaching the vehicles electrical system and powering up the transmission. I want to thank one of our forum contributors, (h20junkie) for bringing up the issue of potential ground wire problems leading my installer to calling US Gear for
clarification. If you need more information or pictures, email me at sbranen@cox.net

Glad I could help. Since there are no installing dealers where I live I will be attempting this same install myself in the next couple of weeks.
