Towing 2014 Mini Cooper

Is anyone towing a 2014 Mini Coopers S with manual transmission? I know you can tow older ones but was wondering if the new cars transmissions are different.

Thanks

I was checking the same and opted to go with the Fiat. Click on motor home forum, then toads and motor home related and then use the search bar for Mini. You'll find quite a few posts there.

The best way to check if a car is towable is to read the owners manual.

Remco has a list of what vehicles are towable and what is required you can look at.

Remco : The Towing Experts

We looked at the MiniCooper and the Fiat and bought a 2013 Chevrolet Spark with a 5 sp manual trans for a lot less money. We only use it as a tow vehicle and it is great for zipping around town.

Thanks

Look down a few threads and you'll find a post I put up about the Mini Cooper Countryman. BFlynn I believe put a link to the owners manual. Also use the search bar above with several variations of words and you'll find more posts. I know people are doing it and there are base plates for it but that's all I know. Good luck.

Mini Cooper

We have towed a 2010 Mini Cooper for two years now and have not experienced any adverse affect on the car.We have a Roadmaster tow bar and the tow package, including Invisi Brake was installed at a Camping World Center. We love our little mini which usually gets around 42 plus miles to the gallon and is less than 3000lbs.The Mini has been our perfect get away car from our mother-ship,a Monaco 41ft Knight.

They ARE flat towable.

Just yesterday (10/12/14), a friend and I finished up installing a Blue-Ox baseplate on his 2014 Mini Cooper S Clubman, 6-speed .

He plans to start towing it this weekend.

Contact me if you plan to do your own baseplate installation. Having just done one, I can save you some hair pulling.
