Book gave 65 mph as max speed.
Can anything simple be done to give it a little safe cushion range.

Thinking about improving trans air flow ducting.
or how about using remote fob to starting idle before passing or descending hills.

I know a lighter foot would help. I start every trip saying "I am retired, I am in no hurry, I need to improve mpg." then after about 4 hours the speed keeps creeping up till 75 seems like I am at a walking pace.

I pulled a jeep the last 12 years, I just put the base plate on this week have not pulled it yet.

Put a picture of a motor home on its side after a blowout beside your speedometer. This will help you focus on the important things.

You statement here has the easy fix , which is no fix at all , just do what the book says, and stay under 65. Schedule a stop and walk around every 3 hours of the trip , that'll help get you out of the " I'm standing still mind set " that can set in on a long drive.
Also the walk around is better for your health , you don't need any DVTs . ( Deep Vein Thrombosis ) last thing you need behind the wheel is to pass a blood clot.
I've managed to break out of the " Got to get there mindset " that once saw me over 130 mph in my car. YES 130 ! If I'd been stopped , I'd still be in jail. So anyone can do it.

Cruise Control. I set mine at 62 and the coach never creeps up to 75.

I am towing a 2014 Honda CR-V and it also says 65 max. I have read a lot on it and it appears that the problem is a lubrication issue, when you go over 65 for a period the transmission oil can boil to foam and not lubricate anything = burnt tranny/4-8K repairs. I installed a high quality 100% synthetic oil with a high boiling point in my tranny and have had no issues. I have exceeded 65 on many occasions (only when I deemed it necessary) such as downhill (let it run), passing a vehicle that speeds up to get out of the passing lane, etc. I normally set my cruise on 63 and on normal rolling hills I never exceed 65 unless necessary even in states when there are high limits. I have not had any issues

Laugh: Drove through a rainstorm, arrived and started toad and noticed a very strong burning smell (like truck brakes on fire) was sure I had somehow fried the tranny turned out it was road debris accumulated/thrown onto the exhaust. Dissipated after a couple of minutes, changed my shorts and relaxed.
Laugh #2: Turning into a fuel stop glanced in the mirror and started complaining about the guy on my ass, turned out it was the toad?

Anyway the general consensus is that 65 is a CYA speed and brief interludes over will not harm the tranny.

On interstates I try to maintain speed limit I stay between 67-70 mph pulling my Cruze...... and I get a LOT of coaches go right by with a car in tow....I guess them Cats ain't on this thread.....

I tow a 2015 Equinox. I set cruise control to maintain 62-63 mph. Downhill it may exceed 65, short term, and have even hit 70 once in a while. My speed selected is my best mpg setting, and it's in the range Equinox manual states for towing.

Slow down set the cruze control at about 57mph and enjoy the scenery. Your pocket book will be happier, your heart will enjoy it more and you never know you might actually see something you've passed a bunch of time and didn't see it because you were always in a hurry. If you do go ahead pull over and enjoy what you have been missing.
We only live once so enjoy it, take the grand kids with you (once)
