Towing

Found out I can't flat tow my 2013 escape. I really don't want to use a car dolly. I need suggestions on what type of cars that can be towed flat. I was looking into a ford fusion but my wife wants something more sporty. Anyone have a suggestion.

I think most any car can be flat towed with a Remco transmission pump.

1964 Corvette with a manual transmission . Sporty enough ?
But seriously, Is she happy with the Escape at all ?
Even though the Remco pumps run $1100 + install might be worth looking at the web site to see if it's flat towable with the pump, cheaper than trading cars. Kit includes wiring for lights as well as pump and control.

http://www.remcoindustries.com/Towing/Store.php.

EDIT: I see they don't have a set up, and say not towable, and they would know, should have looked before I posted sorry.
RE-EDIT but keep the web site for a quick reference for any thing you look at.

I think you'll find the Honda CR-V remains the most popular choice for toad. My Saturn Vue has been good-no longer made- and it has a Honda drive train, which makes it towable without mods.

How about a 6-speed manual transmission Mazda Miata Power Retractable HardTop (PHRT)?

I towed a 2000 over 35K miles and have now towed a 2010 and a 2012 over 20K.

If you choose the Miata, PM me for information on towing equipment and other details.

Tim

PS: If you REALLY want sporty, mine now has an Electric SuperCharger (ESC)....
+50 HP & 55+'/# tq.

We just traded in our 2010 Jeep Wrangler toad on a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. The Cherokee was totally redesigned and very nice inside with a great ride. We found the Wrangler as a daily driver tiresome and we don't do 'off-roading'. We do 2 track a lot and the Cherokee is great.
Takes us 5 minutes to hook it up and flat tow. Takes us 5 minutes to unhook it to drive.
Works for us great!Click image for larger version

We love our 2014 Jeep 2 door sport! Super easy to set up to flat tow. My DW loves driving it also.
