Where is the best place to buy used towing bar and base plate. I have a 2010 Dodge 1500 PU so I probably need 10,000 lb. hardware. This will be my first time towing behind my MH and I don't want problems.

Thanks for any info,

I bought my current setup of a blue ox 10k tow bar and a brake buddy used via craigslist.

My suggestion if you are buying used is to have the tow bar rebuilt before using it unless you know it's history. For example, I just had mine in to Blue Ox and they found the main knuckle worn out. They replaced it and rebuilt the entire assembly for $200. Good as new.
You also want to examine the welds on the base plate very close to see if there is any cracking or signs of failure.
IMHO, I would consider used/rebuilt tow bar etc but would spend a little more for a new baseplate.

I also got my setup off Craigslist. It seems that used towing equipment has very little value to most folks. I got a 10,000 lb. Blue Ox Aventa LX and a Brake Buddy Vantage, all for $400. The Brake Buddy was missing the break-away kit, which I bought on E-bay later. I tow a Jeep Wrangler with an aftermarket bumper, so I welded my own brackets on it, and off we go.

Even if you have to pay someone to install the base plate, there are deals to be had!

Smile Blue Ox tow bar

You were wondering about a tow bar for Ram 1500. I have one that was used for round trip from CO to SD. Towing miles on it approx. 1400 miles. Like new. It is a BX7365 and has a 6500# tow rating. If not mistaken, the Ram weighs somewhere around the 5k mark. I live in western CO if interested.
