Thanks everyone-I've switched gears and now considering a '11 Ford Escape XLT
May end up with the jeep but keeping options open.

I really do appreciate all the advice and experience you bring!

We are towing a Jeep Wrangler Type X...Key turned forward one click; Neutral Shift position, and 4 x 4 pulled all the way up and to the right. We use a Roadmaster tow bar (flea market $40) base plate installed by local garage ($350) also had a hitch mounted on the rear); brake buddy purchased on Craigslist ($400) towed from Florida to California on I 10...really bad roads, very bumpy...but no issues! Make sure wheels turn by watching outside the RV..check every 50 - 100 miles....don't pull off the road in to soft sand.....lol
