I have a 1999 Ford Ranger 4x4 automatic. If i disconnect the front drive shaft, can i tow it backwards using a tow dolly.

The definitive answer is . . . maybe.

It might work OK or it might sway back and forth violently above certain speeds.

I tried towing a RWD car backwards on a dolly once. Key off - steering wheel locked. This was pulling with a pickup, not a MH, but that wouldn't make a difference. I couldn't go faster than 35 MPH. Above that the car would start swerving back and forth in an increasing oscillation. Very scary. I've heard of other people with the same results, and still others that have done it just fine.

Sorry, I know that doesn't help much but that was my experience.
