Just curious if anyone out there is towing a 2006-2007 Honda Civic (new body style)...I know Honda does not endorse/warranty its use as a toad but...

A comment in the current issue of Highways magazine (the Good Sam Club publication) says that the reason 06-07 Civics with auto transmission can't be towed is because of the change to a new 5-speed trans. Isn't this 5-spd auto essentially the same unit that is in the CR-V which is sanctioned as a toad (assuming you follow the recommended procedures)?

I called Honda and asked why the crv is ok for 07 and not the civic or the accord. Their reply was that it just hasn't been approved yet, but no other reason. Would love to pull the 07 civic, but they say no warranty. doesn't make much sense to me either.

Remco will sell you a towing warranty for an 06 or later Honda if you want peace of mind. Basically the Remco policy will pay for transmission repairs if Honda denies warranty coverage because the vehicle was towed.

Just saw this post, sorry I am late to add information. I am Towing a 2006 Civic EX with a manual trans. Civic now has just over 10000 miles. We have now towed the Civic something like 8000 to 10000 miles with no problems. Had the base plate installed by local RV installer shop, only shows 2 metal knobs that stick out from the bumper. Using a Falcon 2 tow bar with a Brake buddy. Have had 2 small issues. A dead battery, cause we towed too many hours during the day a few times. Fixed with a battery minder add on.
Honda tail lights are not compatable with my RV, have burned out two tail light converters. Fix was a extra heavy duty converter, hopefully cause its not fully tested out yet.
Have had no other issues. Hardly know the car is behind the MH. Easy and light to tow. Its OK to IM me if you wish more details.

We are towing a 06 Honda CRV with an automatic transmission. It is my understanding that this is the only 06 Model Honda that can be towed. I'm not sure about any of the 07 models.
I have a friend that owns a transmission shop. He told me that my Honda has a GM transmission.
