I am told unofficially that Honda has the same platform on both the CRV and the Element, they do not certify the Element as towing past the 05 year model. That said, if you have any kind of drive train failure you may have a problem with warranty $$$$$$$.
The Element is a great towed. Rear seats are removable and enough room to sleep if one wanted to do a side trip and overnight in the boonies. We carry a mobility scooter for Ms Carol in the rear and can still load a pile of other stuff with it. You might talk with the service dept and find out for sure the platforms are the same.
To tow, you just carnk the engine, pull it into tow position behind the MH and let it run for at least three minutes (avoid reverse - if you go into reverse you have to start all over with the three minute idle thing) After at least three minutes, turn the ignition off and leave the key in the first notch. Make sure radio and heat/ac fans or off and you are on your way.
Hope you are able to find a way to tow it.

G ???? Leave it in neutral. We try to stop about every 4 hours or so and go through the procedure again. Have towed longer (maybe 6) Honda says that it take about 6-8 hours for the fluid to drain down from the transmission.

Remco website says Honda Element is towable 4 down 2003-2009, both manual and auto transmissions.

In 2010, Honda changed the transmission to a 5 speed automatic and dropped the manual trans.

No idea if the new trans can be towed. Check the Honda Element forum, maybe someone over there is doing it.

Best Regards!
