Towing a 2013 Mini Cooper

Has anyone pulled a Mini Cooper behind their RV? If so; what's the best car dolly I can buy. I understand it is low to the ground especially in the front. Thanks

Wiley

I have been towing my mini with a Kar Kaddy foldable dolly. I need to use 2x6's under the ramps when loading to clear the air scoop, but it does load without scraping if I do that . Tows like a dream. The Kar Kaddy is maybe overkill for the mini ... But the mini DOES weigh 3600 lbs, and the steerable wheels and surge brakes on the Kaddy contribute to a smooth ride. Often I have used the folding option when storing at a campsite.

The EZE-Tow is used by several iRV2 members to tow their Mini's.
The long removable ramps make loading easy and by design is rather low, it is only 385lb unloaded, and comes standard with surge disc brakes (no brake controller needed)...but recently, idler axle and electric brakes are available for even less.

They are a sponsor on iRV2 as well.

Vendors get no special treatment, but I have had an EZE-Tow for several years and it is great.

My mini is a auto so I have to use car dolly or trailer.

The EZE-Tow looks like its really wide. I have a RV bldg with large doors so it should fit, but I would really like something smaller. It is a small car, but very low to the ground; especially mine.
Thanks

Most all dollies will be about 100"-102" wide so the dolly tires are outside the car's tires for reduced overall height.

But, the EZE-Tow is light enough that is can be juggled through smaller doors and even stood-up for storage...see:

I have a 2013 Countryman automatic and tow it on a dolly. When I reach destination and back it off the dolly all my alarm lights are lit. Eventually they turn off except for the "check engine" light which stays on for a while. Eventually and thankfully the dashboard returns to normal but I hold my breath each time. Anyone else seen an issue like this? We're about to head out for a month trip.

Yes we have seen this problem also, but after a day or two, the check engine will go out. I asked the dealer... they said I have to bring it in when the light is on!
I also had some fault codes that were related to low battery power. Seems that if you park the mini close to the area in your coach where you keep your keys... then the mini thinks your going out again, and keeps the computer operating. Best keep the keys at the opposite end of the coach where you park the little one!
I do tow with the road master dolly, no problems. Plan to add electic brakes at a later time.

Mini lovers, I was just reading this powerful post about being careful with brake system....small cars this could easily happen, as it has happened to 2 coopers...not to scare, but just useful warning information.

We tow a 2012 Countryman S Auto and most of the time it throws a check engine light for ABS. It always clears in a few miles of driving so don't worry about it.

Thanks so much for the reassurances. I love my little car and am about to put it up on the dolly! Safe travels!
