I tow a 2002 Suburban. Easy to go from driving to tow.

Howdy! I tow a '99 Silverado 4x4 short bed and it tows fine with all 4 down. Instructions are in the owner's manual. After you hit the neutral button, you put the thing in park (yes, park), take off the emergency brake after you are hooked up (it will roll even in park). There are a couple more steps in the manual, but it's pretty simple. I've towed it from Washington to Arizona and California without problems. If you don't have the manual I can scan the applicable pages in mine and e-mail them to you or I can just type them out for you in another reply. Lemmeno. Happy trails!
