Towing a dinghy

We'd like to tow a 2007 Honda fit and figure out how to bring kayaks with us. Any advice on the best way to rig up would be most appreciated. Thanks. Neil.

According to Remco, your Fit is towable as is...just check the owner's manual for towing instructions. You'll need to consider a base plate, tow bar, wiring for lights, and a supplemental brake.

As for the kayaks, will they mount to the top of the Fit? Good luck.

I would NEVER use Remco as a source of info, they don't have access to the factory engineering info and certainly won't pay if you follow their "advice" and it's wrong.
But Honda themselves say it's towable and I'd go by that.

Well, bully for you. Did you miss the part where I said "check the owner's manual?"

If Honda says tow it, tow it. Remco is in the business of selling towing equipment.

Good point..

However in this case REMCO says you can tow it (OF course so does HONDA) without mod.

If they were lying I"d expect them to say "you need stuff we sell".

But you are quite right, HONDA is the best source of that info.

On the other hand I know of cases where a car maker says "You can't" and many are doing it. (The "you Can't is known as covering your anatomy)
