Has anyone towed or found the appropriate modifications necessary to tow a Lexus AWD Hybrid (i.e. RX 400h AWD) or any other hybrid ?
Thanks,
Dave and Ginger

I have no experience. Both FMCA and Motor Home magazine do not list the AWD as towable, four down.

Consider going here. Remco has several alternatives. If you are interested in what you see, give them a call. Let us know the decision you make.

On edit, the best source of information is the owner's manual. It is the only place the manufacturer, puts in writing, their decision about towing.

Thanks Gary:
I've looked at what is online for Remco..not much to offer. I'm aware that Lexus/Toyota mfgr. does not recommend towing...at all. None the less, I've got a couple of friend who tow a non-hybrid (one was a dealer) but cannot advise on the AWD models. I've got a feeling that you are right...especially given the transmission issues on hybrids, etc. Just curious if any one had a work-around solution before we decide on this one as a toad. It will be my wifes car. We've outfitted our little "beater," a 1999 Geo Tracker for towing and if we didnt have the rear view camera...we would not know its there. But, at the same time she'd like a safer car out of the "base camp" for our extended trips. Might have to stick with the Tracker for a while!
Best, dy

Dave,
The best I can offer is to park the Lexus and get a Jeep with a hard top. They tow great 4 down. Like the Tracker you won't know it's back there unless your watching the camera. I tow a 2000 Jeep Wrangler. It has 137k on the odometer and add another 100k towing and the only thing I need to do is replace tires as they wear out. My only suggestion is a car hauler trailer. Good luck.

Jim
