Towing a Mazda RX-7

I have an old RX-7 Mazda 5 speed manual that I have been refurbishing as a show car. I don't ever see it on the list of toads. Since it is a manual transmission, can I assume that I can toe it 4 wheels down?

Since an RX-7 is rear-wheel drive, I'm thinking you'll have to find some way to disconnect the driveline. Remco actually doesn't list any products for it and denotes it as "Must be towed using a trailer."

You can check their "Tow My Vehicle" page to confirm ...click here

The "general" rule used to be that any front-wheel drive vehicle with a manual transmission can be flat towed ...again, it was a general rule.

ETA: ya know, I may be entirely clueless as I just did a quick search and found this thread on an RX-7 enthusiasts forum. One guy said he did tow his at freeway speeds without disconnecting the driveshaft ...I don't know. Maybe start a thread over there to ask the question?

Here's the thread I'm referring to

However, this was the exception as most of the search turned up answers that said it can't be towed 4-down.

Been towing a Mazda Miata manual rear wheel drive without any issues. Just need the correct tow plates for your RX7....and make sure you disable the steering wheel lock assuming you have one. Would certainly make sure both tranny and diff fluids are fresh. Only downside has been a few chips to the front end and a very dirty engine compartment!

If it is a show car, I would think a light aluminum trailer would be a better way to go to get the car off the ground and with a shield, protected from road debris.

Actually it is not painted yet. So I thought about it being my "toad" for the RV for a while. I think it may be too valuable than to put her through that!!
