Towing a toad (take two)

I am planning on towing a 2013 Ford Explorer (4WD) with a 2014 Winnebago Forza and need some advice on what may be needed to do this.
When you trailer a vehicle do you just need the tow bar and put the car in neutral and leave the ignition on while towing?

There should be instructions in the Ford Explorer Owners manual for flat towing with Motor Home. I would make sure that I followed those instructions to prevent any damage. Also FMCA prints and annual Dingy guide that may provide some details as well. But your best bet is to follow the instructions in the Owners manual.

You'll need more than a tow bar. The tow vehicle needs to be setup to essentially act like a trailer, including braking and lights. Plan on investing some money to get it right. The specifics of your car should be in the owners manual.

With your diesel motor home, you might consider something like the Air Force One braking system. It's built in so getting ready to hit the road is easier. Blue Ox, Roadmaster and others make the hardware you're going to need.

Better double check the GVWR to GCWR delta on the Forza - youre going to be really close on allowable tow weights with the explorer, especially if its a 34T. The 38R has a little more weight allowance. Also, keep an eye on the 5000lb hitch rating, the explorer (unloaded) is going to put you within 300-400 lb of the limit. Might want to look at a smaller vehicle...

I would trust folks on here, more than a dealer. My dealers did not even know which of his cars would tow 4 down
