Towing car on a trailer....anyone doing it?
Was looking at the various methods for towing.....most seem to go with the 4-down method....then the Tow Dolly method....and finally some people tow their car on a trailer.
I'm wondering more about the last method.....I've got a Honda FIT, which would fit nicely on a 6x12 trailer....the car is pretty small, and light (2500 lbs), so I'm wondering if it will fit on a single axle trailer.
I like that the trailer will allow me to back the rig without having to unload or unhitch the Toad, as well as save the tires and brakes of the toad.
With this in mind, I'm wondering about a low-rider type trailer, that will allow us to load without too much trouble, since the FIT is pretty low to the ground.
Thanks in advance....I'd love to see pictures if you've got them, or links to sites that might be of help.

Even with a micro car, you'll need a trailer with brakes. I know VA requires brakes if the GWR of the trailer is over 3500 pounds. A small trailer might get you just under that, but make sure you check the axle rating of a trailer that small.
I pull my Road Runner on a trailer, and our Taurus X 4WD. 4WD is MUCH easier. Hook up and disconnect is much faster 4WD. The bigger issue is that a trailer will limit the places you can stay.
A 4WD toad can be moved around easily at a campground. A trailer, not so much.
I have my trailer hooked up to my motorhome right now and will be loading up the Road Runner this evening. Manuevering around the Carlisle Fairgrounds is not fun with that trailer.

Brake and tire wear on a toad is not a problem.
Any wear would now be on the trailer.
As noted above, dealing with the trailer at a campground can be a problem.
However, if a trailer is necessary, it can be dealt with.
Towing 4 down is by far the most convenient way to tow.

I tow both a Colorado pick-up 4x4 on the ground and a 25
ft flat bed with 4 wheels with my Pontiac Soltice sports car on it. The trailer car combo is heavier right at 5000lbs. The 4 down set up is quicker to hook up and go, no loading and tying the car down. The trailer I can back up if needed but not the 4 down. Most pull throughs can handle MH and trailer. I use the trailer for other things also. If I had to make a choice I would tow 4 down. But I love to take the sports car on the trailer to Fla in the winter, and to the mountains in the summer.
