Just purchased a 2007 Chevy HHR to flat tow, any recommendations on a tow bar and a braking system? Thanks!

I am very happy with my setup. JUst got back form 2800 mile trip to Wy. and SD. Used tow/haul for down grades and rearly saw the Patriot brake indicator lite activate. The back cargo area is very handy too for extra storage. PM me if you have any questions.

Also, you will most likely want to get a drop receiver for the tow bar because the base plate is mounted low in the HHR's grill area.

I use the blue Ox. You also have to pull a fuse. I use a switch ( much easier).

I use Roadmaster Falcon 2 tow bar, base plate, diode light wiring kit, and BrakeMaster air brakes.

If I had a gas MH I would get their new InvisiBrake system.

I also put a switch on the 2 amp fuse. If you want a light to show on your dash when the breaks are working. You may also need their 751428 brake switch

On the Chevy HHR, I noticed when you pull fuze #8 so when you have the switch turned on it want run the battery down, with this fuze out the brake lights do not come on when brake applied. I assume when hooked to the motor home the brake lights work??

Your assumption is correct.

You're welcome. We just traded our HHR last week. Loved it for four years and 31,000 tow miles and 38,000 road miles. Great car.

What did you get this time?

Does the odometer turn when towing?

I'm done towing for now. Circumstances have taken priority. It didn't register mileage.
