Anyone had any problems towing a Dodge Dakota 4x4.Thinking on buying one as a toad and want some input from the group on any problems or no proplems.

We have been towing the 2003 version since we bought it new. With a shell and "stuff" the quad-cab version weighs in at just over 5000 pounds. It has a Blue-Ox base plate I installed with a bit of effort. No issues related to the vehicle.

Thanks and is it true there is no modifying needed to the running gear.JUst put in neutral in the transfer case and tow?
I tow a jeep cherokee and am told its the same as towing it.Just put it in neutral the transmission in park and offf you go and of course make sure the wheel isnt locked..

Yes. Just follow the instructions in the owners manual and off you go. While in this mode the odometer is not functional so milage towed does not show up. It wasn't as simple as our Jeep Cherokee, but close. Our Dakota has the automatic transmission. We use a "Brake Buddy" aux-brake system and I would recommend that you start the vehicle at the end of each day to make sure the battery is ok.
