Towing Dodge Journey 2009

I have a Dodge Journey 2009. It is front wheel drive automatic. It has a curb weight of 3,796 pounds. My MH (Georgeboy 36) has limit of 5000 so good on that score. I already have the Dodge Journey. Some questions:
1. Has anyone pulled a Dodge Journey automatic?
2. Do I need to use a car dolly?
3. Can I use a straight bar with 4 tires down?

A Journey is not towable 4 down. We had a 2010 that we could not tow. There are very few Dodge vehicles that are towable. For better read your owner's manual. I will tell you everything you need to know.

If you want to tow something 4 down I would highly recommend a Jeep. Very easy to work with and still under your weight limit. I tow a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Sport Unlimited and it is easy to hook up and unhook from the towbar. I think they're one of the most popular vehicles that can be towed 4 down.

Does it have to be a manual transmision and a 4x4 to use a towbar and does the jeep require a base plate? Do automatic transmision work with towbar?

Mrs. Sue, no you do not have to have a manual transmission Jeep to tow it. You can tow an automatic transmission as long as it is 4 wheel drive. I have the Blue Ox set up on mine. Yes, you will need the base plate to tow the Jeep. You can get everything you need from Amazon.com or you can go to the Blue Ox website and order from them. I got everything I needed for mine from Amazon.com and it comes with the paper work from Blue Ox to register it with Blu Ox for the warranty.
