Towing doubles

Need to bring my polaris rzr xp1000 along from time to time. Have you ever pulled doubles with a trailer behind the toad. Surge brakes on trailer so no problem there. Have pulled a lot of doubles around the farm but never behind the motorhome. Anybody have any experience with this.

I think you only have two problems - are you over the state you are in maximum length; and is it legal in the state you are in. Doesn't matter what the laws are in your home state unless you are doing this within their borders.

I've got a friend that tows a Teton fifth wheel with a Peterbilt tractor and then tows his car behind the Teton. He's over 75' in length and has been stopped several times. Generally the penality is that the car has to be disconnected and driven separately.

I was going to do that, but decided to buy a small pickup as a toad and place my ATV in the bed.

Can only be done if one is a pin hitch (fifth wheel with a ball toe bar hitch for the toad) not motorhome with ball hitch for the toad and ball hitch for a trailer. You have to do what I did get a trailer big enough for a small car and the RZR

Double towing

No problem at all. Legal in Ontario as long as less than 75' Tows as if there was nothing back there.

Don't try it out here on the west coast. Not legal in WA or OR for sure, not sure about CA though.

Not legal in western Canada to my knowledge unless there is a 5 wheel pin on the first trailer.

It's no different than on the farm. There are around 15 states that don't allow it if I recall correctly. I double towed in AZ, CA, UT, NM, NV, CO & Mexico.

Add Florida as not legal to triple tow list. Truck sounds like best idea-tow truck and have utv in bed of truck. I have seen 5th wheels with a ATV on a trailer behind the 5th wheel and it looked safe, but a little long behind a truck with a 8' bed and crew cab. Dave

Wow, have you weighed your setup? Your rig looks to be on the F53 chassis and at most has a 5,000# tow rating. The JetSki trailer doesn't look like it has brakes.

In Wisconsin I believe the max length is 65', middle unit has to be the bigger of the 2 units being towed and have aux brakes and the end unit has to be less than 16' length max and less than 1500lbs. I don't know if the hitches have any special requirements.

Reciprocity applies to licenses and registration, not to equipment restrictions. The combination must be legal in each state/province you drive in.

I do this every year from Louisiana to Texas to Oklahoma, never been stopped but get a lot of looks from other vehicles. Even had troopers visit at truck stops but never a problem other than curiosity seekers.
