Towing Ford Edge

It's put base plates on my 2012 Ford Edge. Does anyone have experience towing one of these vehicles? How do you get all the accessory power turned off so you don't drain the battery? Thanks

There are towing instructions in your owner manual probably in a section titled Recreational Towing.

I'm not sure if towing the Edge is like towing an explorer, but i tow a 2013 Explorer and you have to be sure to press the ignition button only once or the accessory power will stay running. If you press it twice it will constantly ding and want you to put it in park cause it thinks your trying to start it again. So just be sure to press only once to stop the engine. Also, even though the manual doesn't mention that it needs a powered connection while towing.... it does. It will drain your car battery with a whole day of towing, even when stopping every 6 hours as the manual indicates to run and cycle the fluids for 5 mins. Ford really should have mentioned a powered connection is required in the manual but its not in the explorer manual at all. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I did read the manual. I can get the radio and climate control tuned off, but the navigation system stays active. I will look into the supplemental power source. Thanks again
