towing Honda CRV

I am sorry but I have a stupid question. This will be my first time in towing my Honda crv for a long period. My ? Is when I stop at night I will use rest areas to get 4 to 5 hours of sleep. Should I undo the car completely or can I just run the motor in drive for about 5 minutes. Thanks for your help

I would run it in "Park" for at least 10 minutes to charge the battery, if you have a charge line from the coach. If no charge line you need to run it until battery is charged. Prior to towing you need to go thru your normal pre-tow procedure.

I've towed a 1998 CRV from Florida to Alaska and back 4 times with little or no
battery problems. If the battery is approaching the replacement date do so. My
routine is to run the CRV in park for a few minutes every time I stop. Then I run
it through the gears making sure it is in D just prior to putting t n Neutral. I like
to do this at least every 300 miles. If you drive with the headlights on, you might have to go through this procedure more often. I might consider buying an inexpensive solar trickle charger and hook it up directly to the battery or the cig
lighter. You do not have to unhook the CRV when stopped for the night. However, If not too inconvenient, I recommend taking it for a little spin to " lube" it up. Also, if the roads are dusty or there Is a lot of construction, open the hood and blow or hose off the dirt. This is a must when driving the Alcan, especially western Yukon, where the roads are *%$#@@.
