If it's the regular 6spd and not DSG, then you should have no problem.
I will check at work tomorrow what trany it takes ( I believe it's a 02Q designation) and let you know.

We bought a 2006 class c last year along with their toad.....a 2003 VW Golf GL 5sp. They towed it 4 down all over the US before we bought it. The Golf has 105k miles on it with the original tranny and clutch. No problems so far.

2009 Jetta 2.5L, automatic

I'm very new to this (so new that we haven't picked our MH up yet). Towing 4 down does seem preferable to a dolly.

Are there any modifications that can be made to my automatic tranny (6 speed tiptronic) that would enable it to be towed 4 down??

About the only modification would be to replace it with a 5 speed manual. This web site is dedicated to adapting cars for towing. Home | Remco Towing

They say all 5 speed manuals can be towed, they don't know about 6 speed manual, but all automatics must be put on a dolly or trailer.

landtrv, I checked and it is a regular mechanical 6sp, so you will have no problem towing it. I will see if I can post a mechanical drawing of the trany.

There is nothing one can do to disconnect it from the wheels, but one might be able to add a electric oil pump to lubricate the transmission. I would probably have an interface at the oil cooler.

towing

Thanks for the input folks. It's as I thought, but hope springs eternal. Now it's decision time, new car or a dolly.

The Remco site looks very informative.
