Towing my Jeep question

I have a 1998 jeep wrangler 4 wheel drive with a 5 speed. When I am towing it do I put in neutral and also put the the 4 wheel shifter in neutral or what?

Hi there.m the reason you are getting a vague reply is because Jeep recommends different towing requirements per year, and also depending on the specific transmission and 4wd options you may have.

We can't offer you any specifics without guessing, which could cost you a lotta money if we guess wrong.

4 wheel drive lever in N, transmission in 4th or 5th and your off!! I have a '97 Wrangler 5 speed which has been towed over 50,000 miles.

For my 1999 Wrangler the directions are to place the 4-wheel shifter in neutral and the transmission in gear.
