I was told by VW, none (with automatic trans)can be towed 4 down, so you'll most likely have to use a dolly...

from the Remco site, all 1982 through 2011 automatic transmission cars:
Application Notes

No Remco. Vehicle cannot be flat towed. Front wheel drives require a dolly, check owners manual and dolly distributor to confirm a dolly is usable for vehicle.

So you can only use a dolly to tow the car.

We have a New Beetle and use a tow dolly. Can't tow 4 wheels down. Also, our dolly has electric brakes. There are disscussions about brakes on a tow dolly a person should read.
