Towing Question

Greetings iRV2'ers 1fanman here with a toad question, do any of you tow a 2011 Buick Enclave four down with an 8.1? If so did you notice any drastic drop in fuel mileage? My 06 Saturn is starting to give me issues and I am thinking of replacing it with a Enclave. Would appreciate any inputs on this concern. Thanks and safe traveling.

According to the data from FMCA's towing guide (pasted below) the Buick IS towable:
Enclave CX, CXL
Yes N/A All-wheel drive 65 mph/None 4,985 lbs. 201.5 in.

Enclave CX, CXL Yes N/A Front-wheel drive 65 mph/None 4,780 lbs. 201.5 in.

HOWEVER, I would be concerned about doing it because the Enclave's weight appears to exceed the difference in your GVWR and your GCVWR, which will mean excessive "stress" on almost all your chassis components-especially the brakes. If you do it, then make sure you've got GOOD supplemental braking system installed on the Buick.

The Enclave will be 5000 lbs or slightly more. That is almost surely more than the chassis and hitch receiver on your coach is rated for. Every coach I know of that has an 8.1L engine is equipped with a 5000 lb hitch and a GCWR that typically limits the tow capacity to 4000-5000 lbs.

Thanks for all the inputs, I hadn't given thought to hitch weight, sometimes we worry about the alligators and get trampled to death by the elephants so I will have to reconsider my toad choices once again. Tanks I do appreciate the informative heads-up. 1fanman/aka Del

Check the weights as you may be overloading your coach
