Hello, can you flat tow a recent Volkswagon Beetle?

I believe if it has a manual Transmission you can. Most manual transmissions are towable, we have a friend that has a VW Passat diesel gets over 50MPG and tows it.

Ty, Need a little more info. What year is your VW? Is it standard or automatic transmission?

Hello, thank you. Thinking of a Jeep or a VW Beetle next year for our RV. Just need to know if a Beetle would work. Both the Jeep and/or a VW Beetle would be manual. I know the Jeep would work if 2012 or later.

If you are thinking about a Beetle (pre 1969) there is a tow bar available that is specific for those years, no baseplate needed. I am not sure if that particular tow bar will work with a Super Beetle (post 1969). As for the new model VWs I have no knowledge if a tow bar exists or a base plate is needed.
