I looked over the instructions (link in post #3) and it doesn't look like a bad job at all. Looks like Fiat used good hardware to hold the existing facia in place.

If you're anywhere close to me, send me a PM and I'll help you.

Local RV Tech

I had my local RV Mobile Tech do the work. Much better quality than my local repair shops.

It really is pretty simple for a mechanically minded type. Installing the self-locking nuts can be quite difficult for those who have never done it before. And drilling holes into the frame is not easy also.

Installing brake light etc on Fiat 500 sport

My question is which method works the best for hooking up the brake, blinker etc, the doide or separate bulbs. On the doide method, does having 2brake lite feeds while using a Patriot braking system create a problem?

How are the lights on the back of the towing vehicle? turn/brake combined or separate? On the Fiat, turn/brake combined, or separate? If both vehicles are the same, no converter box needed to wire between the two. You'll have to inspect the taillights to see if there's room to add bulbs and sockets to the fixture. Diodes are 'one way valves' that prevent electricity from flowing where you don't want it to go. You'll have to determine if they're needed when you decide where to splice into the taillight wiring. Another option is to put taillights on the rear package shelf behind the backseat headrests and leave the toad's lights alone. When the Patriot applies the brakes, the brake lights will come on and could conflict with light signal from the TV unless protected by diodes.

We just purchased a 2015 Fiat 500 Pop, stick shift for a four down toad. Cute little bugger!
We are getting a Blueox baseplate. I am going to install it.
I also ordered magnetic led travel/in tow lights and a 7-4 adaptor. Our friend does this with his toad. Easy, quick.
I am looking for a Brake Buddy unit next.

We used to tow a Jeep Liberty. It was ok, but the ac took a puke and the transfer case burned up, there was a recall we never heard about.

We set up our 500L last year and have pulled it about 2500 miles now with no problems. We used the RVi brake and are happy so far. Presently in South Fork Colorado enjoying some cool weather.

I LOOOOVE my Fiat 500 Abarth! It can be flat towed .

I also did a rear seat delete kit on it, completely removing the back seats. I can put 2 adult mountain bikes back there (29ers!) or much other stuff.

Also, as if the Abarth version isn't fast and sporty enough, I put in a Go Pedal throttle control. All I can say as that I am NEVER bored driving my car!

Towing the Fiat 500

Put a BlueOx baseplate on it yesterday. Hardest part was getting the front clip back in place. And, putting on the permanent safety cables was a trick. They seemed to be over built. Took about 3.5 hrs. This is a pretty cool little car. Fun to drive.

Today I ordered an EEZ tpms.

Towing the Fiat 500

Pit EEZ tpms on coach and toad today and programmed. Pretty cool. Going looking for a dropped (3-6 inches) receiver right now.

We've pulled our 500L about 3000 miles so far and are very happy with it. No problems with battery staying up without a charge line. I do have an always hot 12V plug wired into battery. 6 speed manual.
