What does the owners manual say?

No VW's listed on the MH magazine dighy towing guide.

Remco Towing says the following:
All Volkswagen 5 SPEED manual transmissions are safe to tow. The new SIX SPEED MANUAL transmission is unknown..no information is available. Check with Remco on baseplate availability.

Blue Ox does not have a base plate listed for the 2012 GTI.

Looks like you will be blazing a new trail! Keep us posted.

I know this is an old thread, and I apologize if I'm wasting anytody's time on here -but I've been searching and still can't find a conclusive answer. I'm looking to tow my 2009 GTI, 6 speed manual 4 down. Has anybody done this successfully with a VW 6 speed?

If you search the forum, many have asked this question. Check out the other threads and responses, no one, as I recall, has 'fessed up to towing a 6 speed. Lots of guessing and suggesting, but of course it's not their $$ if it doesn't work.
