If you enter your VIN number in VIN Decoder - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
it will tell you everything about the vehicle as built by Ford, before Coachmen turned it into a MH. If you look under specs it will give your GCWR among other info, for the base vehicle from Ford.

Mich, after looking at tech specs on the Ford VIN decoder, it looks like the GCVR is of 18.000lbs, with a maximun weight on the tailer to be 8000lbs. I want to thank you for that link for the VIN decoder, it had all the answers, much appreciated.

Keep in mind that those are the specs from Ford before the vehicle was modified by Coachmen, who seems to have drastically downgraded the ratings. What is your wheelbase now ? The extension(s) assuming there are any in front of and/or behind the rear axle could be the reason for the downgrade. A good hitch builder, welding shop should be able to get the vehicle back to conforming to the original specs from Ford.

Yes, I'm going this coming week to see Keith at AmericanRV near Ft. Lauerdale Airport, he is going to to see about replacing the hitch for a class V I think. Thanks Mich. The RV has an extention of about 12" or less.

American RV added air bags on an F250 I had a number of years ago, and I believe they do good work. On the hitch, you might also want to check with Scott at AIM Welding, also in Ft. Lauderdale, just north of Davie Blvd and just east of 441. He built the custom hitch for the 24' MH I mentioned earlier. The best thing about that was that it was bolted into the main frame which was built by Ford. It ended up costing about the same, or perhaps a little less, than what a regular, bolt on to the frame extension hitch, would have cost.

Have you been able to confirm the specs with coachmen. While you say they only added 12" or so can you confirm they did not change something else as well? If their engineers downgraded the specs you would be wise to follow their lead.

Yes, if you look about 3 or 4 entries before your entry, you'll see the Ford's official Tech specs.

Yup - saw the Ford entries.

In an imcomplete vehicle construction any of the manufacturers can alter the specifications of the complete vehicle. As coachmen altered the frame it may be the Ford specs are not valid. Coachmen could have determined a new set of specifications for your unit.
