Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner?

I bought a 2013 in.. 2013. At the time I opted to NOT get the 4x4.. grrr.

I have since bought a Winnebago motorhome and would like to find a toad. I understand the 2x4 can not be towed 4 down.

Has anyone found a way to tow one of these? Reason i ask.. On the way home to Cali from Idaho, I saw a MH towing a Toyota Echo.. I'm pretty sure thats what it was. Towing 4 down.

So, I'm hoping someone might direct me if it's possible.. pulling a fuse and or whatever. Not holding any high hopes.

Otherwise, I'd like to find an AWD or stick that's a couple years old that boasts reasonably good economy. Any thoughts? My Honda Civic gets well over 40 MPG. I could tow that on a dolly.. but, that's a bit of a pain from past experience.

You can install a driveshaft disconnect on the pre-runners. Remco used to make these, but sold that part of the business to another manufacturer. Check with Drive Shaft King in Dallas, TX at 800-442-6329 or Southwest Enterprises in Yuma, AZ at 928-782-3611. I haven't looked into it for awhile, but I think you can still get the disconnect. Either of these two installers can tell you for sure if it is still available.

I had a disconnect on my 4wd Tacoma. Should be no problem having one built for the Pre-runner. It should make a great toad. Dave at Driveshaft King built a disconnect for my 2013 Xterra 4wd. Did an awesome job.

Did you ever set your Tacoma up for towing?
