TPMS on Toad

Do you keep your external TPMS sensor on your Toad all the time?

Great question. It's our first year towing, and when we put the MH in storage for winter we'll take the sensors off both. Last year we used individually labeled sandwich bags to keep them organized. Otherwise they are on from March till November.

My toad's sensors have been on the toad for over 3 years now.

The toad is my daily driver.

TST flow through. I change the batteries once a year just to be safe.

I usually take them off if we are staying more than a night or two and / or will be doing any significant driving around. And of course, any time I think I may venture off pavement. They are way too vulnerable sticking out for me.

We have left them on our 2013 Kia Soul and it's been towed about 16000 miles and driven 12000 miles. Not a problem at all so far. So the wheels have almost 30000 miles with the sensors. Use Tire Minder system w/o pass thru air. Work fine.

I have the 10 tire system from TST Standard Sensors and the only time I remove them is to change the batteries, once a year if they need it or not. I also have the anti-theft covers that work well, without the tool you can't get them off.

Also have the TST but don't leave them on the toad. Always take them off at home and when we're out I take them off if we are going to be a week or so. I figure no since in leaving them on and when parked next to the MH having them working and running down the batteries.

Have not put them on the toad, but should. As we off road the Jeep would have to remove them when doing so. Other times would just leave them in place.

For those of you that take them off frequently, what is your reason for doing that?

Seems like a lot of effort for no reason, plus an opportunity to damage the o'rings.

I do understand it prolongs battery life to some degree but that hardly seems to justify it.

I installed the internal sensors on my Dolly wheels and the rear wheels of my Toad (2006 Camry). I don't remove them.

As weekender/summer vacation traveler I only install them when we actually take the toad along for the ride. When removed the sensor goes into sleep mode which saves the battery. If I traveled more with the toad I would probably level them on.

Now for the really deep question. Who has one on the spare tire (coach or toad)?

Mine stick out past the rim. So I remove them to prevent damage and theft.
