Question Tracker towing

Hi all, just bought a 99 tracker 4x4, 5 spd to tow behind m/h. have been looking at some old posts that claim you can't tow if it has auto locking hubs???. reason I ? that is I tow an '03 Dodge Ram 1500 Q/C 4x4 with auto locking hubs with no problems.. just figured Tracker is a whole lot lighter... thanks for any thoughts on this.

It must be converted to manual hubs. Very easy to do. Transfer case in neutral and go. I also installed a disconnect on my battery. I love mine.

Don't be surprised. I have owned 9 Suzuki Samurai/trackers and belong to a couple different clubs. There are always multiple opinions, however mine is correct. here is a link to a 2000 owners manual. Instructions are in section 43. Is says nothing about the front hubs. I have had personal experience with auto hubs locking up while being towed. You may choose to tow with the stock auto hubs but you have been warned.

Dunno about the stick shift versions, but I towed two automatic 4WD Trackers with standard factory hubs, a 2000 and a 2003, for a combine total of 54k miles.

There is a vacuum motor that engages the hubs. With my problem the hub engaged randomly. I only had this happen once to be a believer in manual hubs. Here is a link to others that have had other issues as well.

Warn is a good choice. Mine are Aisin from a samurai as I had a couple extra.
