Looking at towing a vw beetle on an open trailer versus a dolly. Any suggestions?

I'd guess you're talking about a New Beetle with front wheel drive? They can be towed on a dolly. A classic Beetle with an air-cooled engine would have to be on a trailer. If the classic was a manual, it could be towed 4 down. My TDI Beetle is a manual and I tow it 4 down with a tow bar.

I wouldn't recommend a trailer unless your toad is set up to pull it.
Just a "just in case" suggestion.
We trailer our Jeep, but it has a 2" receiver hitch on it. There has been a couple times that I needed to stash the trailer away from the campsite.

My Volkswagen Eos rides on an Acme tow dolly.
I am looking at changing to a Master Tow because there is no "lateral forgiveness" with the winches so loading is more difficult than it has to be.
An inch or two off center you have to back down the ramps and try again.
It has become a sore point and in order to maintain marital bliss I am going to change dollies

A trailer will add weight and may be more difficult to store on your site than a tow dolly. My BIL tows a VW Beetle on a tow dolly with no issues other than connecting the safety chains to the Beetle and disconnecting the battery when towing. Both of those chores can be made easier with a little thought.

Be aware that Master Tow make different widths dollys. Make sure to know what width you need before you buy.

How do you think the ramps will be for rocker panel clearance once loaded?
Thanks

I don't know about clearance but I will try loading before buying. The Master Tow is made in Fayetteville which is about an hour away from where I live

Don't have one, I have a Master Tow.
I wouldn't have one where I had to fool with removable ramps. I'm too old to fool with that.
