Triple tow

Heading south (west ) on US 1 in the FL. Keys.

Northbound, a diesel pusher pulling a SUV 4 down, with a loaded utility trailer, on the SUV.

That was a first for me. Seen a 5er with a small boat trailer behind it.

Is that ok ?

It's probably OK in the State of origin -ie State of registration for the vehicle. I have seen such things out west .

In Fla- the Police can make them desist-not legal in Fla. But most times the authorities look the other way, as a courtesy to the visitor.

Then it's only legal in his home state and maybe a few others. there is NO reciprocity on motor vehicle laws regarding anything but insurance and drivers licenses. All others are up to the state you're in.

Its towing doubles, gray area in many places. Triples is 3 trailers. I wish i could find the answers easily in each state for towing behind motorhome like that. I used to tow doubles alot, both fifth wheel with trlr and 2 bumper pulls.

Not legal in Florida, and the legality in his home state is irrelevant with regard to highway laws. When on a Florida highway, every driver has to obey the Florida highway laws, e.g. speed, weight, length, etc. Only the home state licensing and insurance rules pertain.

Florida statutes require that non commercial vehicle combinations consist of no more than two units and such combinations may not exceed a total length of 65 feet.

Triple towing sounds interesting but I wonder how reliable the brakes are. If the trailer is >1500 lbs you need to have the coach activate the toad's brakes and have the toad activate the trailer's brakes.

A quick google search

Iowa
Kansas
