Triple Tow with a Motorhome help in TEXAS
I have a 35' Fleetwood Pace Arrow and I flat tow my 2002 VW Beetle when we go on vacations.
I have a Jet Ski that I want to take with us this weekend.. towing it behind the Beetle. I hooked it all up tonight and took it for a spin and she pulls smooth!
I have heard SO many and read SO many different views regarding Texas triple pull laws.. anyone have any good information before I get a TICKET!

Staley, I believe if you stay in tx you will be OK. I think max length for all is 70'. But would check with DMV to be sure-

I have a 43' RV and pull a toad and motorcycle trailer behind the toad. I live in Texas and have made many trips all over. Never been stopped or had any problems. My two cents.

Here are the laws state by state according to Towing World.
With interest I notice no laws in Texas about brakes? Doesn't mention common sense.
So if you tow two would you have brakes and if so would all units have them or just the tailing unit? Just curious.

I have no knowledge of Texas law so I can't help you there.
But I am curious to know what happens when you mash on the brakes real hard for an emergency stop.
Do your towed items stay in line or do they go every which way?

Another reference is:
State Towing Laws for RVs
Couple areas mentioned above. According to this site max length is 65' and no brakes require under 4500#.

Towing two trailers is a double tow. Towing three trailers is a tripple tow.
The regulation may read a truck/truck tractor may tow a semi trailer/trailer for a three vehicle combination............. etc. Somehow Rv web sites make it a tripple tow.
I'm only bringing this up because if you call TXDOT, which I would suggest you do, and ask for tripple tow regs you may get a different answer than you need for your double tow set up. Be sure and tell them you have a MH pulling a motorized vehicle /pulling a small trailer. http://http://www.dot.state.tx.us/contact_us/

But just remember that a LOT of that so called information is flat out wrong!! Especially the trailer braking info when towing a towed.
That chart is compiled by AAA and they know nothing about towing a towed or the differences between them and a trailer.

Yep, another one that's wrong. A quick perusal of it shows out of three states two of the listings are wrong (WA and OR) they did get CA right for braking requirements on toweds.

Exactly! I don't know why one would consider the tow vehicle as being towed, that's one of my pet peeves.

If your various vehicles all have plates from your state of residence, I'm not sure how the reciprocity rules would be applied. I've seen double tows in WA, but they've always been from other states.

I hooked up the beetle to the mh and the jet ski to my beetle. I went on a 8 mile drive and they pulled excellent! I measured everything this am...68 feet! Ahhhhh! I need to shorten the jet ski trailer by 2.5 and take the 6" hitch extension from the beetle. I think I can make it work!

The only reciprocal laws are driver's license and registration. Equipment laws, size/weight restrictions etc are all enforceable as-is in each state.
