Does anyone have a copy of TSB 12-11-3 issued 11-12-2012. Supposed to say if you tow a Escape 4 wheels down and burn out a transmission you must have Ford install a cooling pump(Remco) for a cost of $3600.00 if you want your warranty to continue.

It is not mandatory that you have the Remco pump installed. The dealer should know this. However, if you have a build date after April 2012 on your Escape, a flat tow failure would not be warrantable because it is no longer on the approved list.

jamesrxx951 Thank you for posting the TSB. My escape at the dealers now for the 4th transmission and the service manager called and told me I had to install cooling kit at a cost of $3600.00 and I told him NO that it will never be towed again.

make sure the both the transmission and the trans cooler is replaced. For any flat tow failure they must be replaced. If they say they are going to rebuild it, tell them to contact The Hotline. They will instruct them to replace both the transmission and cooler.
