We have the adventa. (Is there an adventa II?) and have towed thousands of miles w/o any problems. I spray paint any rust spots that show up where the baked on plastic coating has worn/torn off. Even the rubber boots are still intact.
Unless this thing has had some VERY rugged use it is probably OK. I might check the sliding arms and make sure the locked extended position stays locked when pressure from the towed during a braking stop occurs.
Price wise? I don't have a clue what a used Blue Ox is worth.

I bought mine thru these folks. It's sorta like a Craig's List for Towing stuff. I got both my tow bar and the brackets for my jeep (two separate people). You can check the prices there.

Be sure you are getting what you need when buying used. Have been shopping for good deal on used tow bar this week and found that most listed for sale are missing the crossbar and other misc. hardware that normally come with a new tow bar. The crossbar if purchased new will generally add about a $100(plus shipping) to your cost.
So BEWARE of the GOOD DEAL! you think you are getting.
