Verifying odometer mileage on sold toad
I'm getting ready to sell my toad and am wondering if I should just verify the actual odometer reading on the back of the title or since mileage doesn't register during towing do I need to guestimate towed mileage, add that to the odometer reading and check the box that says "Odometer is wrong"?
I've never sold a vehicle with the electronic digital speedometer that doesn't show mileage during towing.

The mileage is what the odometer shows.... don't make it more complicated than it is
towed mileage is not mileage. imho

Does the buyer know you've been towing it?
Are you selling it as flat tow ready ?
If you answer yes to either question , the buyer is aware that the vehicle has rolled more than the odometer shows , and you're under no obligation a mess up the paper work with info that could complicate the transfer.

I agree. Towed miles will affect tires and wheel bearings, that's about it.

Appreciate all the replys. My BIL knows we tow it and I had not planned on adding mileage for towing but just needed some backup for my plans.
Thanks for the fast come-backs.

Not sure about OK but here if the car is 10 years old the odometer mileage does not matter on the title at sale time. I guess the state figures if is 10 years old and still running the "actual mileage" is no longer important. Also agree that driveline wear is all you would expect from towing and it would certainly be minimal.

As long as the odometer was not altered or replaced or broken so that it could not record driving mileage, you are under no legal obligation to provide any additional info on the title transfer.

I think folks buying a used car are interested in how many miles on the engine and transmission. I would just show the mileage on the odometer. If the question about towing comes up, then yes, be truthful!

Unless you remove the tow base plate, (which is unlikely), the buyer will know that it has been towed. The bit of wear and tear will be offset by the presence of the tow plate if the new owner is buying it for a toad. All set to go. As long as you are not hiding the fact that it was towed, no harm done.
