VW Golf 2005 5 speed

Has anybody had any experience flat towing a 2005 VW Golf. what tow bar and base plate and breaking system, did you use. I am looking to get one from a relative for a reasonable price. Any info would be appreciated thanks.

The official source for towing is the Owner's Manual under towing. Don't go by what someone says. You can also Google "2005 dinghy towing guide" but the Owner's Manual is still the best. Found this http://www.lichtsinn.com/PDFs/Dinghy-Guide-2005.pdf

In reply to austx the owners manual says 30 mph for 30 miles. Not much help there. Dinghy guide does not even list VW. No help there either. That is why I was hoping somebody had first hand experience towing 2002 vw golf 5 speed.
