Jeep

Looks like all it needs is a wheel alignment and a little paint will be good to go

Looks like the GC protected her! I think I'd be looking for another one.

We had a '97 GC that I liked for towing, DW didn't like it in the yard so she had me sell it for $700 a few years ago, right before the cash for clunkers deal. Wish I still had it.

Hope for a speedy and good recovery.

Thanks to everyone for the well-wishes! It's gonna be a looong summer for her. I may have to sit down and design a small escalator to replace the MH steps.

Gotta buy an auto-tranny.

Gotta buy an auto-tranny. DW has a mangled left knee.
My DW has never learned to drive a stick and I don't want to anymore. That's why the Honda's were great for us, but no longer. Just spent $2,700 on our '05 Ody so we can keep it going and NADA on it is only $6,500 now. Doesn't make sense but it is what it is. With DW having liver cancer a new towed just wasn't in the cards!
If I was going to buy again I'd get another Jeep GC. I really liked the '97 we had even though it was rough riding and not as civilized as the Ody is.

Wow!! Super glad she is going to be okay. Seems like a JGC would be a good way to go. I drive an F150 after I saw 5 people walk away from one the rolled 7 times.
Best of luck in your search.

Thanks everyone. I have not explained everything to my wife yet. She is still suffering from the concussion, and has trouble remembering some things. She has no memory of that day except leaving home and waking up in the ER at the hospital.
She cried when I told her I was hauling the Jeep to the salvage yard tomorrow and would not get to visit her until after noon.
The MD box truck that rear-ended the Jeep did the most damage to her.

WOW! Ray, I can't believe she survived that! Someone up there was certainly looking out for her!

Well wishes to your wife. Very fortunate!

We love our GMC Acadia - 5000 pounds, tows great, automatic, 4-down flat towable. Flip a switch to remove a fuse, and you're ready to tow.

Good news! She is home now, was released from hospital Mar. 8. Surgeon told her yesterday her knee stayed in-place after he placed it in a soft cast for 2 weeks. She returns Apr. 1 to see if/how much surgery is required. The surgeon is the same knee surgeon that works on all the Colts football team members.
She is walking with a walker now, gingerly at best. I still see effects of the concussion now and then, but she is still on a strong narcotic pain med, so that may explain some things.
One thing not visible in the pics was the driver-side door pillar and roof. The roof was kinked downward and the pillar was overlapping the drivers seat-back by a foot. I'm still amazed she lived.
I thank everyone for their concern and prayers for Linda.
We've narrowed our choices for a new car to; Jeep GC Limited, Ford Escape, Buick -er, I forgot the model, Lincoln SRX or some other initials. They are all AWD/4WD auto-trannies, and flat-towable.

BTW, her Jeep sold for $147.20 at the scrap yard. The tires were a month old, but 3 were ruined.

Fantastic that she is home. I think about my neighbors to the West everytime I pass by your thread. So happy things are working out for you two.

I do not believe the Escape AWD is flat-towable. We wanted a 2015 Escape but settled for a 2015 Focus because it is flat-towable. You can find the official details for Ford here (page 11 for most years):

RV & Trailer Towing Guides | fleet.ford.com

For 2015/6 Fords there are several Cars, SUVs, and Cross-Overs that are AWD and flat-towable, but didn't see the Escape listed.

Just avoid anything with electric power steering. Jeep has devised a work around for the Cherokee but last I heard, GM hasn't admitted that the electric ps is the cause of the extreme side to side shaking.
