That might be, but with it off, there are no rocks being thrown up to hit the toad or trailer. The small mud flaps behind the wheels do the job.

Although my toad is only 3700 lbs. I chose the Avail for the same reasons. Very happy with it so far

fyi - maiden trip with new Blue Ox Aventa LX pulling 4500 lb. jeep, failure occurred while braking
