We used a Tekonsha Prodigy when towing our Buick on a dolly. It's great in that it gives proportional braking. I also like the fact that the max brake pressure can be set and there are several options as to initial activation rate and time span.
Now that we tow our Jeep 4 down I moved the brake controller to my 2010 Ford truck. I regularly tow a dual axle trailer capable of hauling 10,000 lbs. It's nice to be able to set the brake to coincide with the load being carried. The Tekonsha Prodigy is by far the best brake controller I've ever used.
The best part is that it's a plug and play system. All you need in addition to the controller is an adaptor for the type of chassis your motorhome is built on. It took less than 10 minutes to install it in my truck.
Just got our P3, in an older RV/truck like our '99 you'll have to do some wiring but it's pretty simple, power/ground, a signal from the brake lights switch and run the output to the 7 pin trailer connector.

I am another Prodigy fan, and its features. I've had one for several years in my truck, and love it. So when we got the rv, I just bought another mount and harness (around $25) for the rv, and just move the controller when I need it.
